There are many rules and regulations to which we must conform to if we would like to continue our successful business as a dumpster rental company. However, it is also important for our clients to learn more about these laws and rules and regulations, so we have decided to put it here as a little reminder to anyone who is interested in learning something more about it. These pieces of information will certainly be of use to anyone who is looking into possibilities of recycling or managing waste.
Subtitle D of RCRA
First of all, let us get introduced to Subtitle D of RCRA which regulates the management of nonhazardous solid waste, which is in most cases the kind of waste our clients re-interested in. The guidelines which are here described make sure that solid waste is managed in the environmentally acceptable way. It is why the goals of the Act are established as maximization of reusable resources, foster resource conversation and promotion of environmentally sound disposal methods. Also, the subtitle D regulates municipal solid waste, waste which can be reused such as metal scrap, wall board and empty containers, nonhazardous industrial wastes and solid waste which comes from commercial activities.
Solid Waste Disposal Facilities
As for the regulations which are used on a federal level to make sure solid waste is safely disposed of, it is also important to mention 40 CFR Part 257, or Criteria for Classification of Solid Waste Disposal Facilities and Practices. As for the illegal dumps, they fail to meet these criteria as it is necessary that solid waste is managed and planned under Subtitle D. The criteria also prohibits open dumps which cannot be used in Federal District Court.
As for the disposal standards, you will have to look into part 257 of Subtitle C which further explains how businesses that produce only small amounts of hazardous waste should manage it. The hazardous waste cannot be disposed along with the nonhazardous waste, for it may lead to water contamination or land contamination. In that respect, it is necessary that you take good care of the ways in which toxic waste is disposed of, regardless of the quantities in which your business may produce it.
